Softwashing Didn’t Bleach Your Roof Tiles… Here’s What Really Happened
One of the biggest myths in roof cleaning is that softwashing “bleaches” roof tiles.
In reality, what you’re often seeing is years of black algae, lichen and organic contamination hiding the true condition of the tile beneath.
Once the contamination is removed whether immediately with sodium hypochlorite or gradually with a biocide treatment the original colour and condition of the tile becomes visible again.
Unfortunately, if the factory coating has weathered away over decades, softwashing didn’t cause it… it simply revealed it.
